In its January issue, Modern Tire Dealer released its annual ranking of the world’s top tiremakers on the basis sales. Hankook Tire’s sales totaled US$1.62 billion (including China operations) last year, up 8.7% year on year, to edge out Toyo of Japan (US$1.3 billion in tires sold) for 9th place. The top ten on the list in descending order were: Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Continental, Pirelli, Sumitomo, Yokohama, Cooper, Hankook Tire and Toyo. The monthly US-based journal reports on global tire industry trends as well as on the latest products and technologies.
